Free Firmware Upgrade

If you purchased your PEM2 BEFORE April 7, 2009, you can send it in for a free firmware upgrade! For more detailed information, read our announcement.

New PEM2 Firmware

Any PEM2 purchased on or after April 7, 2009 has the updated firmware, version 2.8. This also applies to any PEM2 recalibrated, repaired, or serviced after April 7, 2009.

Important: The new firmware version 2.8 has changed the default upload procedure for the PEM2. In the default setting of the new firmware, the PEM2 will upload ONLY the most recent data; in other words, the upload file will contain ONLY the data collected since the previous data upload. However, all the data will still be stored in the PEM2.

If you wish to upload ALL the data in the PEM2, follow the steps to create a command file in the Configuration Utility. You will then be able to upload ALL the data stored in the PEM2. Any PEM2’s with the older firmware will not be affected by the command file and will upload all data as before.

This new firmware has also corrected the problem experienced with the 2008 leap year. The problem will not reoccur in the leap year 2012.

Are You Having Trouble Downloading Data from Your PEM2?

If you receive an error message (a number 4, 5, or 8) and a wrench icon on the PEM2 display, an error has occurred during download. The error could be caused by the flash drive you are using to download the data.

First, retry the download with a different flash drive. If possible, clear the drive of all other files.

  1. Select a flash drive to download data from the PEM2.
  2. Clear the flash drive of any files.
Important: It is NOT required to clear the flash drive. However, we strongly recommend using a clean flash drive to ensure that other files do not interfere with the PEM2 download.
  3. Insert the clean flash drive into the PEM2.
  4. Wait for the download to complete.
If the problem persists, contact us at IPI and we will help resolve the issue. Questions or concerns may be directed to: ipitechsupport@rit.edu
